About Us
My name is Susan Lindsey, and I’m the proud mother and grandmother of three amazing autistic boys. Everything I do starts with them. Raising children with special needs taught me that kids need more than academics. They need programs that support them emotionally, socially, and practically.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Leadership with an emphasis in Youth Development from Arizona State University, and I have more than 20 years of experience serving children and families. In 2000, I founded Choir House Ministries, Inc., a nonprofit that began with outreach to people experiencing homelessness in Phoenix. After moving to Maricopa, I saw a new need: supportive, inclusive spaces for children with disabilities and learning differences.
That need inspired Camp Mirth LLC, a locally owned summer program here in Maricopa. Camp Mirth welcomes campers from age 6 through high school. Many autistic teens thrive in a child-centered setting even after they’ve aged out of most summer programs, and our program is built with them in mind.
Camp Mirth serves all children, with a special focus on students in Exceptional Student Services (ESS), children with disabilities, and kids who benefit from extra support. Through activities that build confidence, spark creativity, and foster friendships, every camper is seen, supported, and celebrated.
After a wonderful first summer in 2025, we’re excited to keep growing in Maricopa, and we can’t wait to welcome your family!

Introducing Susie Homemaker!
Life Skills Made Fun for All Abilities! At Camp Mirth, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to develop practical life skills, build confidence, and become more independent.
Our Susie Homemaker – Grandma Approved! Facebook page features easy-to-follow recipes for children of all abilities, using microwaves and air fryers instead of stovetops. Every recipe is kid-tested by my own autistic grandsons!
We also share kitchen safety tips, cleaning and organization skills, and everyday life lessons. New how-to videos are coming to our YouTube channel, so stay tuned! Our goal is simple: Teach today the skills children will use for a lifetime.
